The San Diego Puppet Insurgency (SDPI) invites musicians, actors, visual artists, and all people of good heart to take messages of Peace and Justice to the streets. Our goal is to build community, create social change, and celebrate our humanity. Through street theater performances we hope to educate and involve our community on issues such as anti-war, peace and justice, combating consumerism, recycling and permaculture, global women's struggles and racism. We hope to create greater avenues of involvement for the diverse communities of San Diego.

One of our primary goals is to help people become doers rather than watchers!!! Our low tech means of producing and creating street theater encourages participants to address issues such as war, environmental destruction, sexism, and many others which, in other contexts, can be overwhelming and create as sense of helplessness. Street theater and puppetry offer a way to empower individuals and groups by researching issues, educating others, creating an accessible performance, and releasing stress through art!
